L'étudiant s'engage, en adhérant à La CLE, à avertir son propriétaire ainsi que les gestionnaires du dispositif de toute difficulté rencontrée pouvant conduire à un défaut de paiement. En cas de défaut de paiement, le propriétaire procède aux diligences usuelles (relances par " recommandé avec accusé de réception "…etc) avant de se retourner vers les gestionnaires CLE. Après vérification des relances entreprises, les gestionnaires procèdent au versement du loyer après avoir établi avec l'étudiant un échéancier de remboursement afin qu'il puisse apurer la dette car la caution locative est une aide ponctuelle, à rembourser. En cas de changement de logement, l'étudiant doit s'assurer d'être à jour de toutes ses obligations (et donc d'avoir remboursé ses dettes éventuelles) afin de continuer à bénéficier de La CLÉ.La résiliation du bail et / ou le renoncement au bénéfice de La CLE n'éteint pas la dette éventuellement contractée. L’étudiant devra la rembourser. L'étudiant qui ne verse pas régulièrement sa cotisation à La CLE peut perdre la garantie. Le propriétaire en est alors immédiatement informé.

A student, by signing the CLÉ contract, makes a commitment to warn the landlord along with the CLÉ manager of any difficulty encountered that can lead to not making rent.
If rent is not paid on time, the landlord tries for a settlement before contacting the CLÉ manager. After verifying settlement attempts and setting up a repayment plan with the student, the CLÉ managers pay the rent. The CLÉ is intended as a momentary help to pay the rent, not as a scholarship. In the case of a change for a new flat, the student must make sure all legal obligations are met and that he has paid any debt he may have. Only on those conditions can he have continued benefit of the CLÉ insurance. Breach of lease does not eliminate any debt the student may have and that he will have to repay. Any student who does not pay his contribution can lose his insurance and his landlord is immediately advised when that is the case.
